A Quiz by the women for the women and of the women
at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indian Cultural Centre, Kuala Lumpur from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.


Background

The Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indian Cultural Centre , High Commission of India with the help of Quiz Master Mr Phanindra Ivatury organised two Quiz competitions namely “India Quiz” for Indian Diaspora and Malaysian Indian Community in Malaysia and in February 2013  “Corporate Quiz” which was organised in collaboration with Mahindra Satyam at Cyberjaya. Both the events were widely covered by the print and electronic media. A capsule of Corporate Quiz event was telecasted by Astro Vannavil Channel.
Encouraged with the success of two Quiz competitions the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indian Cultural Centre, High Commission of India has now decided to organise “Quiz on Indian Women” on Saturday, 25th May, 2013.


Role of Women

Indian women are powerful entities.  In a male dominated Indian society, the typical Indian woman had essayed her role as a daughter, sister, wife, mother and a friend to perfection.  The Indian Constitution today, has given equal status for both men and women.  Indian women have distinguished themselves in various fields occupying important positions in society as politicians, teachers, lawyers, doctors, administrators and diplomats.  There is no sphere of life or activity where Indian women have not made their presence felt or proved their worth.  Despite considerable struggles and challenges prevalent in the Indian society, women in India have made tremendous progress during the last fifty years.  Women in India participated fully in areas such as education, sports, politics, media, art and culture, service sectors, science and technology etc. Indira Gandhi, who served as Prime Minister of India for an aggregate period of fifteen years, is the world’s longest serving Prime Minister. The constitution of India guarantees to all Indian Women equalit, no discrimination by the state, equality of opportunity and equal pay for equal work.


About NSCBICC and Women

The Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indian Cultural Centre, High Commission of India, Kuala Lumpur has always played a major role in setting up an interactive platform for eminent Indian women personalities and artists from various fields like Kiran Bedi, Padma Vibhushan Dr.Sonal Man Singh and Padmashri Guru Saroja Vaidyanathan in establishing a connect not only with the Indian diaspora but also with the local Malaysian community in Kuala Lumpur through their performances, lectures and discourses at the Centre.  The Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indian Cultural Centre also provides all Indian and Non-Indian women in Malaysia an opportunity to nurture their talents and skills by offering courses in Yoga, Kathak, Tabla and Carnatic Vocal music at the Centre.

Inspired by the success stories of prominent Indian women personalities from various walks of life and with a view to spread, share and celebrate the knowledge, wisdom, glory and greatness of the quintessential Indian Women, the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indian Cultural Centre, High Commission of India is pleased to organise a “Quiz on Indian Women” on 25th May, 2013 (Saturday) at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indian Cultural Centre, Capsquare, Kuala Lumpur, to have  an insight on the glory, development of importance of Indian women in Indian society.


About the Quiz

The Quiz will have various rounds of questioning on fields and subjects related only to Indian women. The contest is prioritised and made open exclusively for women only who can participate as a team of two members.  Preliminary Round for the contest would be held between 3.30 PM – 4.30 PM on 25th May 2013 at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indian Cultural Centre.  It would be in the form of a Questionnaire consisting of 20 Questions on Indian Women which has to be answered in the 20 minutes time given.  The top six teams with the top scores would advance to participate in the Grand Finale which would be held on the same day between 6.30-8.30 PM.

Bio Profile of Quiz Master Shri Phanindra Ivatury

Phanindra Ivatury has a Master’s Degree in Public Personnel Management and Kulapati K.M.Munshi Medal Winner in Public Relations.  Quizzing is a hobby he had cultivated in 2002 and has so far conducted over 200 Quiz Prorgrammes for various MNCs, Government and Non-Government Organisations, social groups and corporate giants like ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Wipro etc. in India.

He was also the winner of ICICI Crystal Trophy for being the finalist among 70 corporate teams in ICICI Quizzical 2010 conducted in Hyderabad, India.  He was also the winner of the Special Quiz on Kapil Dev conducted by Doordarshan, Hyderabad. Shri Phanindra Ivatury is currently working as Attache (Audit) in the India Audit Office, High Commission of India, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
